The Training and Consulting Center at the College of Petroleum and Mining Engineering, Sudan University of Science and Technology, was established as an applied and advisory arm aimed at bridging the gap between the academic and research environment and the local and regional petroleum and mining industries. The creation of the center came in response to the pressing need for an advanced training and consulting hub that leverages the college's modern laboratory capabilities alongside its academic and professional expertise to support the energy sector and extractive industries while optimizing their field operations.
The center's mission focuses on providing high-quality technical and advisory services, as well as designing and delivering specialized training programs aimed at raising the efficiency of human resources and enhancing the practical skills of experts, engineers, and technicians working in the oil, gas, and minerals sectors. The center strives to apply the best international standards in solving technical and engineering challenges facing companies in the sector, alongside conducting feasibility studies and technical-economic evaluations for extractive projects.
The center offers a wide range of advanced training programs and services covering field domain areas such as well drilling and completion, reservoir and production engineering, petroleum exploration engineering, transportation and refining technologies, natural gas processing engineering, as well as mineral exploration, mining, and processing. Additionally, the center actively organizes courses in occupational health, safety, and environmental management (HSE), contributing to the enhancement of safety standards and environmental preservation at work and production sites.
In addition to training, the center serves as a primary platform for conducting certified laboratory tests and analyses to determine the physical and chemical properties of crude oil and petroleum products, testing drilling fluids, cement, and reservoir rocks, as well as analyzing and evaluating mineral ores. Through this integration of training, consultancy, and laboratory services, the center actively contributes to fostering strategic partnerships between the university and institutions within the energy and minerals sectors to support national economic development.
