The Director of the University of Sudan announces exemption of the children of martyrs from tuition fees.
The Director of Sudan University of Science and Technology, Professor Issa Bashir Mohamed Al-Tayeb, announced the exemption of the children of martyrs from tuition fees in recognition of their sacrifices and in tribute to those who gave their lives defending the homeland and preserving its land and sovereignty.
This announcement came during a ceremony held by the Higher Committee of Popular Resistance, hosted by the university within its western campus, to commemorate the first anniversary of the martyrdom of Muhannad Ibrahim Fadl (a university graduate) and his comrades in the Battle of Abu Qud against the rebel militias.
The university director affirmed that the decision was made in support of the families of the martyrs, noting that the university will remain loyal to its martyrs and staff who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
He also announced a memorial service for the university's martyrs and scholars, foremost among them the martyred Professor Rashid Ahmed Mohamed Hussein, the university's former director, to commemorate his memory and to recognize his and his colleagues' contributions to the university's progress and the field of knowledge. The director recounted the heroic deeds of the martyrs who sacrificed themselves for the dignity of the nation and the preservation of its land and sovereignty, recalling the story of the martyr Muhannad Ibrahim, who used to broadcast good news from the university's colleges about its liberation, explaining that his message was for all the people of Sudan: victory was coming.
The university director stated that while the martyr Muhannad preceded him in martyrdom, his mentor, Professor Rashid Mohamed Hussein, and his colleagues followed him in the field of knowledge, which he described as the greater jihad. He emphasized that the sacrifices of the martyrs will forever remain in the memory of the university and the nation, affirming that exempting their children from tuition fees is a message of loyalty and gratitude to those who gave their lives for Sudan.
