It my great pleasure to welcome you to the webpage of the UNESCO Chair in Women, Science, and Technology at Sudan University of Science and Technology which established in August 2003, the Chair represents a firm institutional and academic commitment to supporting women's empowerment in the fields of science, technology, and innovation.
The UNESCO Chair in Women, Science, and Technology is part of a global network comprising over 850 institutions across 117 countries. This network includes UNESCO Chairs dedicated to gender issues, science, technology, and innovation in various nations—such as Spain, Sudan, Egypt, France, Peru, Argentina, and Haiti. This affiliation offers us a unique opportunity to collaborate, exchange expertise, and work jointly on research and training projects of mutual interest.
The Chair is grounded in the firm conviction that achieving sustainable development is impossible without the full and equitable integration of women into education, scientific research, and technological development. Accordingly, our team works to enhance the capabilities of female researchers and scientists and to build bridges between academic institutions and our partners—including UNESCO, as well as regional and international organizations—in support of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
The Chair focuses on several integrated areas:
•        Conducting research and data analysis on women's participation in science, technology, and innovation to identify gaps and evidence-based solutions.
•        Building capacity and providing training for female researchers and scientists at various stages of their careers.
•        Advocating for and raising awareness about the importance of gender equality in scientific and technological fields.
•        Sharing knowledge and best practices with the UNESCO Chairs network and relevant regional and international networks.
•        Establishing academic partnerships with universities and research centers in developing and developed countries to foster collaboration.

We believe that impactful work requires a collaborative effort. Accordingly; we invite researchers, academic institutions, civil society organizations, and partners from both the public and private sectors to connect with us and build partnerships that advance our shared vision. We also welcome female students who wish to volunteer and participate in the Chair’s activities and research projects. We look forward to a future where women participate fully and equitably in shaping science and technology, and where girls are empowered to pursue their scientific aspirations without barriers.
